Meet Bruce and Laura Mowrey:

 

Laura's involvement with animal rescue began at the tender age of 5, when she found an injured bird and brought it home to her grandparents so that it could be nursed back to health. Little did anyone know, that this would mark the beginning of a lifelong commitment to the health and well being of all God's creatures.......

 

Bruce and Laura were junior high sweethearts in 8th grade, then separated when she moved away. 43 years later they reunited on their old schools reunion site, dated for 2 years and were married in April of 2013. Her husband Bruce also plays a very active role in animal rescue and rehab, whether it be constructing enclosures, bottle feeding orphaned infants, or just offering a scared animal a safe place to be cuddled on his lap. (They are especially fond of his beard!)

Riley crow arrived with brittle white feathers from a condition known as metabolic bone disorder caused by a poor diet. This condition, left unchecked will most certainly result in the bird's demise. With a good diet high in calcium, Riley should be able to be released in the Fall.

Laura is also one of the original founders of the Hedgehog Welfare Society; a non-profit organization that deals with the health, welfare and rescue of the African Pygmy Hedgehog.
