Meet the felines and see our new catio!

Sara Jane

Sara and Olivia have become pretty much inseparable. Olivia can be very timid with strangers and Sara has some health issues were still trying to find the root cause of.

Olivia

12/30/2018 Update on Sara: To date, Sara has been seen by 2 Vets and most recently a neurologist. She was found to have extremely high blood pressure and was placed on medication to control that. They are still uncertain if her episodes have been TIA's (mini strokes) or possibly vestibular syndrome...TIA's is the most likely culprit. We are hoping and praying the medication will be the answer. I cannot imagine our home without our beloved Sara Jane.

Harley

These two cats used to run this neighborhood together as kittens, both acted very feral and we could not get near either one of them. Both were skin and bone so we started feeding them. After a few months, one simply disappeared and we continued our efforts to befriend the one left behind. We were finally able to take Harley in, then 2 years later the other one showed back up again, so we started the process all over again. We took Gabriel in appx 6 weeks ago. He has some health issues that are currently being dealt with that we hope do not turn out to be feline herpes or felv.

Callie

Callie was a stray that showed up one cold winter night. We started feeding her and put out a warm bed for her to get in out of the cold in. Then one night in December she showed up around midnight wet and freezing. Someone had to have doused her with water because everything was frozen solid outside. We brought her in to live here with us.

PC

PC (as we call him) was owned by a neighbor who professed that she hated him and would only feed him "when she remembered to". Well, after feeding this poor guy for months, and taking him to the Vet twice for abscesses we decided to just bring him in to stay. He is not a very friendly cat and definitely has some kind of mental issues, but he gets along with our other males well and at least now he's cared about, fed, has a warm place to be and medical attention when he needs it.

The New "Catio"

Plans are underway for the new large outdoor "Catio", which will be a completely enclosed outdoor space for the cats to enjoy. We have plans to build walkways high up around the top, and provide lots of hiding places, cat trees, toys etc. We will also provide each cat with both cooling mats to help keep them cool in the summer months and warming mats for the cooler months. The cats all come inside at night, but they like to be outdoors during the day year round except in extreme weather so this is going to be wonderful for them!

We have added what we still need on our Wish List through Amazon if you'd like to donate to our latest project. We have already taken in several donations of a huge cat condo, an exercise wheel, a Zen Den with tunnels, 2 cardboard scratchers and a cooling pad.

We're still a work in progress, but we're getting there!
